Aam Panna or Aam Jhora is an Indian summer drink and is known for its heat-resistant properties.

Aam Panna has a sweet and tangy taste, made with raw mangoes and some spices. The addition of these spices not only enhances the flavour of the drink but also helps in the digestion.

It is a cool and refreshing drink for summers which keeps your body cool and heat-resistant during hot summer days. You must have often heard that “aam panna peene se lu ni lagti” which means it protects your body from sunstroke.

This recipe illustrates the method of making the concentrated aam panna mixture as well as how to make it into a chilled refreshing drink. The full recipe with the step by step description and images at each step is discussed below.

As aam panna is a concentrated mixture and we usually mix only 2-3 tbsp of it into the water to make the aam panna drink, so, we have kept the quantities of the ingredients little higher than the usual. If you feel the quantity is more, you can always adjust according to your taste.

Ingredients:-

  1. Raw mangoes/ Kacche aam – 2 medium size
  2. Roasted cumin/ Bhuna Jeera powder – 1 – 1.5 tsp
  3. Black Salt/ Kala Namak – 1 tsp
  4. Salt – a pinch of it
  5. Sugar – 1 cup
  6. Ice cubes
  7. Water – 1 glass

Method:-

  1. Wash the mangoes and boil them for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. After the mangoes are boiled, drain the water and allow it to cool down.
  3. Now peel it off and collect the pulp in a bowl or you can also directly collect it into a mixer jar.
  4. Add sugar, roasted cumin powder, black salt and a pinch of salt.
  5. Close the lid and blend the mixture.
  6. Pour the concentrated mixture into a glass bowl/ jar and you can store it in the fridge for about 3-4 weeks.

Making Aam Panna Drink

  1. Now, whenever you wish to drink the aam panna, take a glass, add some ice and 2-3 tbsp of concentrated panna.
  2. Pour chilled water.
  3. Stir it well and your Aam Panna is ready.

Step by Step Recipe with images at each step
