Bored of eating the same regular Sabudana dishes during fasting..??? Then do try this delicious Spicy Crunchy Peanut Aloo recipe.
Chatpate Falahari Aloo or Spicy Peanut Aloo is a dish different from Sabudana that can be made and served during any Indian festival like Mahashivratri, Navratri or on any other day of fasting (vrat, upvas).
We are so much engrossed in Sabudana and sabudana made dishes, that we forget many other dishes that can be prepared for fasting other than sabudana.
Falahari Aloo is one such recipe. This recipe is very simple to make and is delicious. I prefer falahari aloo over sabudana vada or sabudana khichdi as it is less oily and is also lighter than sabudana.
The whole step by step recipe with images at each step is given below.
How to make Chatpate Falahari Aloo | Spicy & Crunchy Peanut Aloo: –
Ingredients:-
- Boiled Potatoes/ Aloo – 3-4
- Peanuts/ Moongfali – 1 small cup
- Green chilli/ Hari mirch – 2-3 (whole + chopped both)
- Fresh Coriander leaves/ Dhaniya Patti – a hand full
- Cumin Seeds/ Jeera – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves/ Kadi patta – 6-7
- Dry mango powder/ Amchur powder – 1/4th tsp
- Rock Salt/ Sendha namak – to taste
- Oil – 2-3 tbsp
Method: –
- Take 3-4 potatoes and boil them until 2-3 whistles. Cut them into pieces and keep them aside.
- Next, we will prepare the green chutney. In a jar add green chilli and fresh coriander leaves.
- Blend it and keep the chutney aside.
- In a pan, dry roast the peanuts until they become crunchy.
- Let it cool and then crush them roughly. (do not grind them, otherwise, there will be no crunchiness in the aloo). Keep it aside.
- Now heat a pan and add 2-3 tbsp of oil.
- When the oil gets heated, add cumin, curry leaves and chopped green chillies.
- Let them crackle for a few second.
- Add the boiled potatoes.
- Mix them well.
- Add salt to taste.
- Again mix it well and add amchur powder or you can also add a few drops of lemon juice.
- Mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the green chutney mixture.
- Mix it well so that every piece of potato is covered with chutney.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes more.
- Add the crushed peanuts and mix.
- Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.
- Spicy & Crunchy Peanut Aloo/Falahari Aloo is ready. Serve it hot and enjoy your fast (vrat/upvas).
