Jeera rice is one of the most popular rice dishes in North India and is very simple and easy to prepare, unlike Biryani.
Jeera rice/ cumin rice is an Indian flavoured rice recipe made with cumin, basmati rice, ghee or oil and some other herbs/ spices.
In this recipe, we are going to make the exact Restaurant Style Jeera Rice that can be served with any of your favourite veg/ non-veg Indian curry or dal (lentil) like- butter paneer, shahi paneer, dhaba style chicken curry, dal makhani, lehsuni dal tadka, etc.
The recipe is very simple and quick to make and trust me you will get the exact restaurant style taste at home.
It is one such dish that is always on my menu be it any occasion or festival. So, if we are planning a north Indian lunch/dinner, then Jeera rice has to be there.

Restaurant Style Jeera Rice | Cumin Rice | Quick Jeera Fry Rice recipe
Ingredients:-
- Basmati rice – 2 cup
- Water – 4 cup
- Oil – 2-3 tbsp
- Cumin seeds (jeera) – 2 tsp
- Green chillies (hari mirch) – 2-3 (slit)
- Curry leaves (meethi neem)- 7-8
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves (dhaniya patti) – for garnishing
Method:-
How to make Restaurant Style Jeera Rice | Cumin Rice
Preparing Rice:-
- Take 2 cups of basmati rice in a bowl.
- Wash the rice 2-3 times.
- Soak in it water for about 10-15 minutes.
- After 10-15 minutes, transfer the soaked rice into the pressure cooker.
- Add 4 cups of water.
- Pressure cook until one whistle, on medium flame.
- The rice is ready.
Making Restaurant style Cumin Rice:-
- Take a pan/wok and add 2-3 tbsp of oil.
- Heat the oil & add cumin, slit green chillies and curry leaves.
- Let them crackle for few seconds.
- Add the cooked rice.
- Mix it nicely and slowly.
- Add salt to taste.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Hot & steaming Restaurant Style Jeera Rice is ready to be served with any of the Indian curries or lentils.
