JHAT-PAT ALOO (WITHOUT PYAZ LEHSUN) | Aloo ki Sabzi

Aloo is one veggie that is loved by all, especially by kids. It is one vegetable that can be paired with almost all other vegetables.

Whether it is aloo paratha, aloo palak, aloo methi, aloo tamatar, aloo gobhi, aloo matar and whatnot, it is a favourite of all.

Aloo ki sabzi” is always thought of as an easy escape and comfort food. Jhat-Pat Aloo is one such recipe that you will love to make as it is a very simple and quick recipe.

So, as the name suggests- Jhat-Pat Aloo can be made in very less time with only a few basic ingredients, no special preparations or ingredients required.

You can have this delicious sabzi with Roti, Paratha, Puri or Daal Chawal, accompanied by salad, papad, pickle, etc, according to your taste.

So, let’s see how to make these Jhat-Pat Aloo. The whole recipe with images at each step is discussed below:-

Ingredients:-

  1. Oil – 4-5 tbsp
  2. Mustard seeds / Rai – 1 tsp
  3. Green chilli/ Hari mirch – 2-3 chopped
  4. Potato/Aloo – 5-6 medium size diced
  5. Turmeric/ Haldi powder – 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chilli/ Lal mirch powder – 1 tsp
  7. Dry Mango/ Amchur powder – 1 tsp
  8. Salt – to taste
  9. Coriander leaves/ Dhaniya patti – chopped for garnishing

Method:-

How to make Jhat-Pat Aloo. step-by-step recipe with images at each step: –

  1. To make Jhat-Pat Aloo first heat the pan and add oil.

  1. Add mustard seeds and chopped green chillies.

  1. Lets them crackle for some time (check the flame to avoid burning) and then add diced aloo/ potatoes.

  1. Add turmeric powder.

  1. Mix well.

  1. Now add salt according to the taste. (Note:- adding salt helps potatoes to cook faster)

  1. Again mix well and cook for about 5-6 minutes. You can also cover the lid to cook even faster.

  1. Add amchur powder and red chilli powder. (Note:- if you add amchur powder before the potato gets cooked, the potatoes will remain uncooked due to its tartness

  1. Mix them well and cook for another 1-2 minutes and your Jhat-Pat Aloo will be ready.

  1. Garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve it with hot-hot Daal Chawal or Puri/ Roti/ Paratha.
