Lauki ki Sabzi| Quick & Easy Lauki Recipe for Summer| Bottle Gourd Simple Recipe

Lauki or Bottle Gourd – also known as dudhi or ghiya – is one of the best vegetables that should be included in your diet, especially during summers.

Be it as a juice or as a sabzi or in a soup or as a dessert, lauki is always good for your health. It is a water-rich vegetable (96% water content) and so it keeps your body hydrated and helps you beat the heat especially during summers.

Including lauki in your diet replenishes the body with essential nutrients and fibre without taking any pills. It is a good source of Vitamin B, Vitamin C, iron, magnesium, etc. It is also good for your skin.

But, the main problem is many people don’t like to eat Lauki, especially children, so, the best thing is to make it in a way that they don’t realise that they are eating lauki.

The recipe down there is one such recipe that will not make you realise that you are eating lauki and I am sure, that, after trying this simple and delicious lauki ki sabzi, you will start including lauki in your diet.

It is simple, it is quick, it is easy, it is spicy and Yes..!!! It is Lauki but, still, it is Delicious and Yummy. Hope you like it and you start eating it.

The whole recipe with the step by step process including images is given below:-

Ingredients:-

  1. Bottle Gourd/ Lauki – 1 chopped
  2. Tomato/ tamatar – 1 chopped
  3. Cumin/ Jeera – 1 tsp
  4. Dry Red chilli/ Khadi lal mirch – 1 chopped
  5. Turmeric/ Haldi powder – 1/2 tsp
  6. Red Chilli/ lal mirch powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Oil – 2-3 tbsp

Method:-

Step by Step Recipe
  1. Heat the pan and add 2-3 tbsp of oil.

 

  1. When the oil is heated add cumin and dry red chilli.

 

  1. Let them crackle for some time (Note:- check the flame because the dry red chilli burns fast. If you are not sure, switch off the flame before adding cumin and chilli).

 

  1. When the cumin and chilli start to crackle, add the chopped bottle gourd/ lauki.

 

  1. Mix it well.

 

  1. Now add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.

 

  1. Again mix it well and cook for 10 -15 minutes on low flame. (Note:- if you want to cook it even faster, just cover the lid.)

 

  1. After 10-15 minutes when the bottle gourd/ lauki softens, add the chopped tomatoes.

 

  1. Cover the tomatoes and cook for a minute or two on low -medium flame.

 

  1. When the tomatoes are cooked, just mix them all well and cook for another 2-3 minutes and your lauki ki sabzi will be ready.

 

  1. The delicious Lauki ki Sabzi/Bottle Gourd recipe is ready. Garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with Paratha or Roti.
