Lentil Popcorn| Mangode| Moong Dal Pakora Recipe| Popular Teatime Snack

Lentil Popcorn or Mangode or Moong dal pakora (fritter) is a popular teatime snack in Northern India. It is a deep-fried snack made with a mixture of lentils, onions, spinach and some spices.

Lentil Popcorn or Mangode or moong dal popcorn is usually eaten crispy hot with a sweet or spicy (green chutney) dip along with a cup of hot ginger tea.

Spinach is my secret ingredient in this recipe, as people don’t usually add spinach, but I prefer adding it (if available) as it makes these popcorns crispier.

During the rainy or winter season, these crispy moong dal popcorns/ manogde along with a green coriander dip tastes even more delicious. These crispy pakoras are just another add-on to the list of different types of pakodas (bhajiyas) that people prefer as their tea-time snack.

Mangode/Lentil Popcorn can be made with yellow moong dal or chilka moong dal, but I usually prefer making it with chilka moong dal as it makes them crispier.

Now, let’s see how to make this delicious & crispy mangode recipe in just a few simple steps. The whole step-by-step recipe for making this lentil popcorn along with images at each step is discussed below:-
