Namkeen Khurmi| Namak Para| Saloni| Teatime Snack

Namkeen Khurmi or Namak para is a popular Indian snack made in every household on the occasions like Diwali, Teej, Holi, Eid, etc.

Namkeen khurmi

Namkeen Khurmi or namak para are crispy & crunchy savoury fried bites made with all-purpose flour or wheat flour and are very famous across North India.

Today, I am sharing my version of making this delicious snack that can be enjoyed with a cup of hot tea/coffee. The full step-by-step recipe with images at each step is discussed below.

The word ‘namak’ means salt and ‘para’ means pieces. So, namak para means salty bites or salted pieces cut in diamond or square shapes. They are also called by the popular name Saloni and Nimki.

This delicious snack is very easy to make and requires just a few ingredients. The preparation time is less and the only time taken is to fry them in batches.

I have also shared the sweet version of this snack – Shakkar para or shankarpali. You can check that out!!

You can make them in bulk and store them for weeks in an airtight container especially, during festive times like Diwali or Holi and serve them to your guests with a cup of hot tea/coffee.
