Watermelon is a sweet and refreshing, low calorie, fat-free summer snack, having only about 40 calories per cup.

Watermelon contains 90% water, which makes it useful for staying hydrated during summers. Apart from keeping your body hydrated, watermelons have nutritional values also.

Each juicy bite of watermelon contains a significant amount of Vitamin A, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids.

Lycopene is a natural pigment that gives some of the fruits and vegetables its red colour. It has antioxidant properties that protect cell damage from free radicals.

Studies have shown that the nutrients and antioxidants present in watermelon help in the prevention of many diseases such as asthma, constipation, blood pressure, etc.

Watermelon Juice Recipe

Watermelon juice is one of the best thirst-quenching beverage during summers. This homemade watermelon juice is fresh, refreshing and free from preservatives.

Watermelon juice can be made at home in just a few simple steps with very less efforts. The recipe down below is made with only 3 basic ingredients i.e. watermelon, black salt and little sugar or glucose (if required) with lots of ice.

The whole step by step recipe of how to make Watermelon juice at home with images at each step is discussed below:-

Ingredients:-

  1. Watermelon/ Tarbuj – half or 2-3 cups sliced
  2. Sugar – to taste
  3. Black salt – 1/4 tsp
  4. Ice

Method:-

  1. Wash the watermelon and cut it into two.
  2. Now take one half and slice it into pieces and remove all the seeds. (Note:- don’t worry if there are few seeds, just try to remove maximum.)
  3. Take a jar and put the sliced watermelon into it.
  4. Taste the watermelon and if it is not too sweet, then add some sugar according to your taste.
  5. Add 1/4th tsp of black salt. Adding black salt will enhance the flavour of the juice giving it a bit of a sweet and salty taste.
  6. Now close the lid and blend the mixture. You can also use the hand blender to blend the mixture.
  7. Take a glass and add ice cubes.
  8. Slowly pour the juice into the glass.
  9. The Chilled and Refreshing Watermelon Juice is ready to be served.
