Besan Ladoo is one of the most popular and traditional Indian sweet that never fails to impress anyone.
Besan Ladoo (laddu) is a simple Indian sweet made with 3 basic ingredients, i.e. Besan, Ghee & powdered Sugar. It is a common sweet recipe prepared all over India during festivals such as Ganpati, Navratri, Diwali, etc.
This sweet and simple recipe is my mother’s recipe, and trust me, the ladoos are just mouth-melting but the only thing is, it requires time & patience.
Besan Ladoo is usually round, lemon-sized sweet balls made by roasting gram flour (besan) and ghee together and then adding sugar to make a thick dough that is then formed into delicious, mouth-melting balls.
The 2 most important things that one should keep in mind while making these ladoos are –
- the ratios of the ingredients
- the roasting method
If you get hold of ratios of ingredients and the method of roasting the gram flour, your ladoo will definitely turn out perfect.
The quality of the ingredients i.e. gram flour (besan), ghee and sugar also play an important role in the final result. The better the quality, the tastier the ladoos will become.
The ingredients should be roasted enough so that they are cooked properly, but not burnt and the best way to identify that is through its aroma and colour.
As soon as it starts getting cooked, a nice aroma could be felt and the colour of the flour also changes. Proper roasting results in flavourful and tempting ladoos.
However, besan ladoos are very easily available in the Indian sweets shops, preparing them at home has its own joy and feeling.
So, I am sharing with you some of my secret tips that will help you in making these delicious mouth-melting ladoos at home.
Secret Tips for making Delicious Ladoos at home:-
- Always use a heavy bottom pan or kadhai while making the ladoos as it will roast the gram flour (besan) properly without burning.
- Do not add the whole flour (besan) directly into the ghee. Try to add 3-4 spoons at a time with continuous mixing to avoid lumps.
- Roasting is the most important step. Always roast the besan mixture continuously on low flame; otherwise, it tends to get burn easily.
- Try to use Bura (boora) sugar instead of the regular refined sugar to get the best taste.
- Always add sugar when the besan mixture cools down completely.
I hope if you follow these tips, your ladoos will also turn out perfect. So, let us quickly check out the recipe.
