Bread rolls are a simple and tasty snack option if you have leftover boiled potatoes. These bread rolls can be prepared within 15 minutes for a delicious evening snack, a party snack or as a lunch box for kids.
In this recipe, I’ll share a no-onion no-garlic bread roll recipe, making it a perfect choice for vegetarians, vegans, or those with dietary preferences or restrictions.
To begin with, we are first going to prepare the stuffing and then fill the potato stuffing inside a bread slice, rolled and then deep-fried.
If deep frying is not your thing, then you can opt to shallow fry, bake or air fry them. They will still be delicious if not very crispy like the deep-fried bread roll.
The aromatic blend of spices and the comforting texture of potatoes make these rolls a perfect addition to your culinary repertoire.

How to make Crispy & Delicious Bread Rolls without onion & garlic | No onion No garlic Bread roll recipe. Step by Step recipe with images at each step: –
Ingredients: –
For the Stuffing: –
- Boiled potatoes – 5-6
- Oil – 2-3 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Green chillies – 2-3
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
- Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
- Amchur powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander for garnishing
For making bread rolls: –
- Bread – 5-6 slices
- Water – 1 cup
- Milk – 1-2 tsp
- Oil – for frying
Method: –
Preparing the stuffing: –
- Heat oil in a pan or kadhai
- Add cumin seeds and green chilli
- Let them crackle for a few seconds.
- Now add the mashed boiled potatoes and mix nicely.
- Add chilli powder, garam masala powder, amchur powder and salt.
- Mix well to combine everything evenly.
- Cook the mixture for a few minutes until the spices are well incorporated.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and set the filling aside to cool.
Making the Bread Rolls: –
- Take a bowl and add 1 cup of water along with 1-2 tsp of milk.
- Stir it once.
- Now take 1 bread slice at a time and dip it in the mixture.
- Squeeze the bread to remove the extra water with the help of your palms.
- Place 1 spoon of stuffing in the centre.
- Now with the help of your hands, shape them into a round or oval ball and make sure that the stuffing remains inside and doesn’t come out.
- The first bread roll is ready.
- Prepare all the other bread rolls in the same way.
- Now heat the oil for deep frying the rolls.
- Carefully place the stuffed rolls into the hot oil, frying them until they are crisp and golden brown.
- Remove the rolls from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess
Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve the aloo-stuffed bread rolls hot with your favourite chutney or sauce.
- These rolls can be enjoyed on their own or as part of a larger meal.
